Hello and welcome to the website/blog for the Stop The Strip Pub campaign. This is the movement to prevent Satchmo's on Stoke Newington Road (North London) being granted a license to put on strip shows.
On Tuesday 6th May Hackney Council rejected Satchmo's application for a Sex Encounters Establishment license.
On 8th March a group of nearly 100 local residents met outside Satchmo's to protest Satchmo's application.
On 11th April Hackney Council announced that they had received 525 written letters of objection- a new record for the borough.
I was really pleased with the turnout we had on March 8. Thanks to everyone who came along. And the press coverage is great. Certainly must help with our effort.
I would have come to the protest for sure as would many of my neighbours as I live close by but I didnt know about it. Perhaps leafletting all the local homes and businesses might raise more action?

On 6th May - in front of 80-100 local people - Hackney Council refused to grant Satchmo's a license to operate as a Sex Encounters Establishment
Thank you to all 525 of you who put pen to paper to express your concern about this issue. The level of complaint created a new record for the borough of Hackney.
